Campaigns

Weald Action Group

Weald Action Group logoI campaign with the Weald Action Group, an incredible network of local groups and individuals campaigning against exploration for and extraction of oil & gas across south-east England and beyond. We are busy on many fronts, including pushing for the ending of routine flaring and venting of methane from onshore oil and gas sites by 2030, robust leak detection and rapid repair across the sector, and the inclusion of onshore oil and gas in national methane reduction policies. We are also lobbying for an improved definition of fracking, so that the current moratorium actually covers the types of fracking used and proposed by the UK onshore industry. And we are supporting campaigners in other areas fighting applications for exploration and production of oil and gas.

The Salmon Run

Tidelines logoI am a volunteer with Tidelines, a community-led CIC (Community Interest Company) which brings together arts, science and community action to celebrate and care for the river Exe and its estuary, and to find ways to adapt and respond collectively to the changes caused by climate change and the catastrophic loss of species that is affecting the place we live.

In particular I help organise the Salmon Run, a running event which takes place each September. Individuals and teams run from 1.5 to 44 miles alongside the salmon as they return to their spawning grounds. We celebrate their awesome life and their importance for our river and city, and highlight the many threats they face. Atlantic Salmon are critically endangered and look likely to disappear from the Exe. We also work with Westcountry Rivers Trust to improve the river habitat to help give salmon a fighting chance.

Green Party

Green Party logoI am an active Green Party member and served as a Green Councillor on Reigate & Banstead Borough Council from 2011 to 2015.
