About

Sarah Finch at Horse Hill 18 June 2023Sarah is an award-winning climate campaigner.

Sarah won a landmark legal victory in June 2024 in a case she brought on behalf of the Weald Action Group. The Supreme Court’s ruling on the case established that fossil fuel projects cannot be approved without assessment of their full climate impact, including the greenhouse gases that would be released when the fuel is burned. Based on this ruling, a number of other fossil fuel developments have also been found unlawful and the government was forced to rethink its approach to the environmental assessment of new oil and gas developments.

She is also a writer and editor working with NGOs, academics and think tanks to produce compelling publications on climate, environment and social justice issues.

Sarah has won awards including the 2026 Goldman Environmental Prize for Europe and the 2025 Sheila McKechnie Foundation Campaigner of the Year award. She was named one of the 100 most influential leaders driving climate action by TIME magazine in 2024.
